2020: “Achieving A Sustainable Future”

For so long, sustainability has been defined by the same powers that led the destruction of of African societies and climate change. It’s time to take power back. It’s time to redefine sustainability.

Sustainability can no longer be about solely planting trees or the 3 R’s. It is a holistic developmental strategy that takes into account all aspects of life (economics, politics, education etc.) Regardless of what impact you want to make we all have a significant role in ensuring sustainability is at the forefront of development.

Take a look at this year’s set of speakers!

2019: “Empower The Diaspora”

2019 we hosted our 2nd annual conference at the University of Washington. Our focus - “Empowering The Diaspora” - this spoke to the importance of the African Diaspora, it’s physical connections to the continent, and the role diasporic youth can take to contribute to sustainable solutions in their local and global community.

2018: “Unlock Potential From Within”

2018 sketched the blueprint for the Africa Now Conference. Hosted by Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Incorporated and led by 12 amazing UW leaders, this conference addressed an urgent need to engage African youth in the development of their communities.

For too long, we’ve been told “you’re the future” so we waited... In 2017, we opened our eyes to the possibilities of realizing our potential NOW. Simply put, this years theme was a call to action for youth to take part in the sustainable development of their local and global communities.
